![]() Philip Guston - USAPhilip Guston (1913-1980) was a leading painter of the post-World War era known for his Abstract Expressionist works that often conveyed franck social commentary. Throughout his 50-year career, he alternated between painting and drawing, as he was acclaimed for his strong, metaphysical paintings with unique cartoon-like characters. His work is in permanent collections, including the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of Art, the MOMA and the Tate Modern in London.FOR MORE INFO ON PHILIP GUSTON Click here ![]() Philip Guston - "Inscape"Description: Inscapes was a 1976 city-wide festival held in washington D.C to celebrate the collaboration of poetry and visual arts. To commemorate the festival, the Smithsonian Resident associate program commissioned Guston and poet Stanley Kunitz to create this collaborative work inspired by and featuring one of Kunitz's poem. The print is the only serigraph ever made by Guston, and was one of the first pieces in his now famous Neo-expressionist series, it reveals a large disembodied head, dominated by a single bulging eye contemplating the universe. This 12-color serigraph is signed by both artists and was limited to 100 copies. This item comes non framed.Size: Image (101.5cm x 76cm), page (112cm x 84cm) Marks: Handsigned by both artists. Condition: Very good, very light water mark on the bottom right corner. Price: Click here Alwin Carstens - GermanyALWIN CARSTENS, (1906 Hamburg - 1982 ebda) a master of the woodcut. He studied in Hamburg college of arts and crafts. Most of his early work was destroyed and after the second world war (1947) he oriented himself towards expressionism. Abstraction started to appear in his works from 1952, which increases in the 60’s.
